About Thai Therapy

The type of Thai medical therapy that most people will be directly exposed to is healing massage treatment known as raksaa thaang nuat.

Thai Therapy is completely different from Western Massage and regular Massage Therapy. It is a healing art of the Theraveda Buddhism and Buddhist medicine.

Bann Thai Spa offers Traditional Thai Therapy which combines gentle, Yoga-like stretching with massage of the muscles, tendons, pressure points and energy lines. Traditional Thai Therapy may also employ the use of elbows, knees and feet in addition to the hands.

The pressure used can be varied according to your preference, so be sure to tell your therapist about any pain or problem areas that you would like addressed. If this is the first time, you may want us to use less pressure, while more pressure can be applied as your body can tolerate deeper work. Always feel free to request the level of pressure that feels right for you.

Traditionally, oil is not used in Thai therapy, but you may request the use of oil if you prefer. This can be helpful with tension in the body.
